The MFB aims to reduce the incidence and impact of fire and other emergencies in the Metropolitan Fire District of Melbourne.  This is achieved through emergency response as well as the delivery of educational strategies that assist the community to become more self-reliant. The MFB works closely with an array of government agencies and community groups to facilitate education programs and campaigns, with VBPP playing an integral role in promoting burns prevention.
